About Kahla
From "Mouse" to Microphones
I wasn't born with a mic in my hand.
I was actually the quiet kid - so quiet my dad called me Mouse.
Raised on a Manitoba farm, I had big dreams but barely used my voice. The problem? Those dreams required me to be heard.
Fast forward twenty years, and my voice has become my career.
I've spoken on television, radio, stages, sports arenas, classrooms, and podcasts. From TEDx events and national broadcasts to NHL games and leadership workshops, I've spent two decades learning how to communicate clearly under pressure - and now, I help others do the same.
But here's what I've learned:
Confident communicators aren't born.
They're built.
And communication isn't about becoming the loudest person in the room.
It's about trusting yourself enough to use your voice.
Why This Work Matters
Most public speaking advice is built for ideal conditions.
I teach for real ones.
The moments where your heart is racing.
The stakes feel high.
The room goes quiet.
And you still have to speak.
Whether you're presenting an idea, leading a meeting, answering a difficult question, or speaking up when it matters most, communication gets harder when pressure enters the picture.
That's why my approach focuses on practical skills you can actually use.
Together, we'll work on:
• Building confidence through self-trust, not perfection
• Creating clear messages that are easy to follow and remember
• Staying grounded when nerves show up
• Recovering quickly when things don't go according to plan
Because speaking well isn't about performing.
It's about having the skills to handle the moment.
A Few Things You Should Know
When I'm not coaching, speaking, or hosting live events, you'll probably find me:
• Walking Todd, my rescue dog and unofficial office supervisor
• Rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the millionth time
• Dreaming about retiring to a witchy cottage in Scotland
• Talking to my houseplants like they're coworkers
• Crying at a concert over lyrics that hit a little too hard
• Reading romance novels under a blanket
At the end of the day, I believe confidence changes everything - how we show up, create, connect, and contribute.
And if I can help someone trust themselves enough to use their voice a little more fully, that's work worth doing.
